In-Home User Testing (IHUT) or Product Testing is a type of market research where consumers (you) are sent an item or product to test in your home. You are then asked a series of questions about the product to provide your feedback. The benefit of IHUT for researchers is that the product gets tested in the way that the consumer would normally use it (i.e. in their home) instead of being tested in a simulated environment. The draw for you is getting to try a brand new product or one that you wouldn’t have used otherwise, and sometimes you even get to keep it!
Opportunities to participate in IHUT are more rare than other types of research, but it can be a fun and rewarding experience! So how can you get involved?
Maru Voice Canada
We occasionally have opportunities for Product Testing. You will be considered for these initiatives based on your specific interests, habits, and opinions collected on our Profiling surveys, such as the Mosaic. The more Profiling surveys you complete and the more we know about you, the better chance you will have to be part of this unique research experience! Additionally, you’ll have to complete a screening survey before you’re entered into the pool of qualified candidates. Be sure to keep an eye out for new survey invitations so you don’t accidentally miss the screening survey.
Another way to get involved in IHUT is to seek out brands you like and see if they have their own research panel or product testing program. Lots of big brands conduct this type of research, like Amazon, Johnson & Johnson, Nike, and more. If you’re eligible to sign up, you can receive these brands’ products for free in exchange for your honest opinion!
We hope this gives you a better understanding of IHUT or Product Testing. If you have any questions, let us know and we will be happy to help!
